When Patty Laurel invites you to PIPINO for an activity filled, veggie birthday party together with Manila’s finest ladies, you just have to go. Apart from being surrounded by equally (feelingera much!) gorg women, I thought that as an amateur vegan, this is the perfect opportunity for me to refresh my palette. :)
PIPINO Vegetarian Food by Pino opened its green, classroom-like restaurant last October 2010 in Teachers Village, Quezon City. Its creative interiors perfectly match its equally delish, fun, and healthy dishes both religious vegans (their vegan chocolate cake is WAYYY better than my own!) and first timers (H couldn’t quite believe that the super yummy low-fat lasagna I had him try was in fact, cheese-less!) are guaranteed to enjoy.
The party started with everyone drawing their Promises for the Planet on the mini canvas plates which also served as the vegan restaurant’s wall décore:
Snacking in between… :)
Mini Stuffed Demi-Dried Tomatoes with Mushroom Salpicao
Green Tea & Cinnamon Vanilla Cupcakes
After art attack #1, the guests were led to the Pino Kitchen Studio (just beside PIPINO) for Chef Edward Bugia’s 10 minute vegetarian cooking demo:
NOTE TO SELF: wear heels all the time!
After watching the demo, I painfully missed standing behind the stainless steel counters of the hot kitchen. :( I miss prepping food from something so raw to something like this (would you believe this has chocolate!?!):
Vegetable Curry with Couscous
Taste testing + creating our own couscous:
Big love to my perfectly structured Sexy White Shirt! :)

Post cupcakes and couscous, we were brought back to PIPINO for the afternoon’s final activity aka. art attack #2: veggie birthday cake decorating contest for Patty.
My kitchen giddiness captured. *le sigh* I should be doing this full time!

The vegan chocolate cake was SO GOOD we had an EQ fail moment — we started cutting it up before our photo was even snapped!
The winners (it was a tie between two groups!) got super fun shirts from David and Goliath:
Ok…ladies say “VEGGIE!”:
