I've been waiting for this month's Play! by Sephora box because it focuses on my favourite facial feature:

I must admit that I've been pretty lazy in this department recently since I've been working from home. This box sparked some excitement, together with my recent Sephora haul (more about it in another post!).
I was initially meh about this box since everything's in sample sizes (LOL) and ain't new to me. Playing with them though, I had a change of heart. Here's a breakdown of my box + my 2 cents on each product.
A multitasking eye balm formulated with Alguronic Acid, vitamin C, caffeine, cucumber, aloe, and green tea extracts.
I checked on the #sephoraplay tag on Instagram and saw some got this while the others got the Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Eye Lifting Balm. This eye balm/cream has so much promise in it since it absorbs really fast and doesn't leave a shiny nor matte film making it an ideal eye area base.
An energizing antioxidant liquid moisturizer that refreshes, protects, and hydrates tired skin for an instant dewy glow.
I didn't try this on my face since I'm still breaking out. Initial thoughts against the back of my hand: it's very light yet moisturizing. It also absorbs really fast so this might be good for those with extremely oily skin (like me).
A contouring eye pencil for a big, beautiful look that lasts up to 12 hours. What it does: Enhance and enliven your eyes with the bold, long-wearing color of these eye pencils. The silky formula is resistant to water, heat, and humidity, ensuring up to 12 hours of smudge-less wear.
I got a deep plum shade called 33 Love Affair and it's very wearable from day to night. I'm glad to get this shade because fall is right around the corner and I need something in lieu of the usual black/taupe eyeliners. This also didn't come with visible specs but also wasn't flat matte. Some weren't very successful making this stay and the secret apparently is to apply it on dry area and let it sit for at least 10 seconds before touching (if you're doing a smoky eye base).
A highly-blendable, gel-powder eye shadow and powder blush with vivid color payoff.
I have wayyy too many eyeshadows of this shade but I can't get enough of them. I've always loved the iridescent eyeshadows of MUFE and this one is so pretty and versatile! It goes on really smooth with no fall out, doesn't crease, and stays beautiful all day. What else can one ask for?
Perversion glides on easily to instantly create sexy lashes. It has a creamy, full-bodied texture that is not too dry and not too wet to allow just the right amount of pull as it glides through lashes.
This mascara is super black, super fattening, and super volumizing. It didn't clump up to 5 coats and my lash line looks like somebody else's after the 6th coat. :) It's quite steep to some at $22 but it's so good you'd really want Sephora to take all of your money.
CLEAN Reserve Blend Warm Cotton, $90

In the scents arena, while it's strongly to each his own, I feel that this fragrance is not getting enough love. :( Of all the items in this box, this one calls out my name the strongest because this is exactly how I like my daily fragrance for summer -- light, clean, and uncomplicated. Closing my eyes, this reminds me so much of my youth, growing up in our beach front house. A bonus: this worked well with my body chemistry and it lasted the entire day.
