My current beauty must-haves, March 2018
The summer season's my favourite excuse to pull off my classic (read: lazy), 10 minute look. Apart from its seamlessness, this look has proven overtime to be an absolute flexitarian. My workday's just gotten intensely busy (in the last 6 months) to even bother retouching midway into my shift. I recently combined some oldies with newbies and ended up falling in love with the overall look I get every single time.
Hello, FOTD. We meet again.
I feel that both Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (I used 290) and Heroine Makeup Volume and Curl Mascara need no more intros so let's get on the newer products in the market. :)
I don't know about you but I'm kinda over the contoured cheeks + lids paired with Instagram brow trend. I still work on all three features but I'm all about lips and lashes for the most part. Maybe that's why I really like Happy Skin's Eye Can Do It! 3-Way Eyes, Brows, Nose Line Kit (whew!).
Whether I have 5 minutes or 50 minutes, I find myself frequently reaching out for this kit for my natural looking brows, eye lids, and nose line (a closet must-do for me!). I like that both colours also look natural regardless of my skin tone. I started using this kit when I had medium-fair skin and after growing a tan, it still looks natural and not even tad bid ashy.
Apart from my 2-piece contour kit, my other favourite product from this look is my Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Lipstick in Lover. It's been a while since I was wowed by a drugstore lipstick and this got me hauling in a heartbeat! It stays on the entire day (I even got to stretch it to 20 hours one time when I forgot my makeup remover!), doesn't dry nor rip my lips apart, the colours are very wearable, and they're only Php 299 each! Here are some swatches and looks I posted on my IG last January (ps. yes, I know the alignment's off. I've broken the code down and it still won't align center. #geekgirlproblems)
The product that finished this look is the MAC Waterweight Powder/Pressed in Medium Dark. Thanks to a weeklong beach trip, my skin tone grew some 2-3 shades deeper. Nothing in my suitcase quite worked and while waiting for my flight back to Manila, I made a quick dash to the MAC counter to get a pressed or blot powder. I was already eyeing on something when I remembered the good reviews I heard about this powder. At $36 (tax-free since I was at the airport), it's definitely not the cheapest out there but its super clean yet perfectly satin finish totally makes up for it. Bonus: it's very photogenic and looked great even on video. It's also versatile cause you can either mix both powders or use either to oh-so-subtly highlight and contour on the fly.
